Ατυχήματα…/ Accidents

Δυστυχώς ούτε φέτος την βγάλαμε καθαρή…
Περαστικά στα παιδιά που χτύπησαν, γρήγορα κοντά μας και του χρόνου πιο προσεκτικα…

Unfortunately we had accidents…
To the people who were injured: Guys be well, be quickly back and please be more careful next year…

Although the rain, we were able, even one day after the Easter, to admire the well-known show

TOURLITIS

Ένας φίλος από πολύ μακριά μας έστειλε αυτό το ποίημα, εμπνευσμένο από τον Τουρλίτη. Νομίζω ότι αξίξει αναρτηθεί εδώ…
A friend from far-far away has sent us this poem, inspired by a lighthouse called "Tourlitis". I believe it belongs here...

Alone you keep silent vigil
never resting through the night.
Protecting the fearful
with your faithful guiding light.

Night and day
with no word to say.
Salt and foam
this rock your home.

When the winter sun pales
Before the approaching southern gales
And the driving rain assails
you stand firm

With no reward for the lives you save
From the fury of wind and wave
Resolute and brave
you stand tall

While over the seas I roam
you always stay to do your duty.
So when I return to home
you welcome me with your beauty.

For foreign readers

For those who want to know things about our pretty island and can't understand our language, we decided to post some information about "us" in English.

Andros is an island, in the geographical complex called "Cyclades". It is the Northern most and second largest Island of the complex. It covers about 374sq.km and its about 36 nautical miles from Port Rafina in Athens.

It is not very big – concerning the size of Crete or Rhodes – nor very important for the word. As a matter of fact, we really doubt for the popularity we have. Of course this doesn’t play any role in our passion about it…

In here, you may find pictures and information about our most important festivals, our beautiful landscapes and some memories we have from living there.

Our e-mail address is andros258@gmail.com. You may send your questions and your suggestions about what you believe would make this blog better. You can be sure that you will receive an answer.

Unfortunately, we can’t be unbiased as we love this place and our aim isn’t to report things but to share our good moments. We don’t know if you sympathise with us but you can anyway take a look, post comments and ask questions.
Thank you for reading and we hope you could catch on some of the "magic" we believe our homeplace has!
